LAKE VICTORIA CHALLENGE TRIAL & SYMPOSIUM

2018 Client: The World Bank Team: PLANE—SITE Role: Associate

Project Location: Mwanza, Tanzania

This project asks what would happen if Africa could unlock the lower skies as a resource for mobility.

As the first iteration of the 2020 African Drone Forum, the Lake Victoria Challenge Trial & Symposium, featuring over 280 participants from 23 countries, explored using drone technology to overcome Africa’s infrastructure deficit. Through flying competitions and a symposium that took place in October 2018, the Challenge explored the humanitarian potential of drones as an affordable, efficient and sustainable mobility model that can be used in addressing the continent’s infrastructure, public health and mobility challenges. PLANE—SITE supported the World Bank with the development of its brand identity, communications, documentation, content curation and event programming.

Please visit AERIAL FUTURES: Lake Victoria Challenge, a salon on infrastructure put on during the Trial & Symposium to discuss the social and economic benefits of the droneport.
