PARK(ing) DAY

2013 Architecture for Humanity, Chicago chapter Role: Coordinator

Project Location: Chicago, IL, USA

This project helps foster a stronger sense of community by temporarily converting space normally reserved for cars into neighborhood public space.

PARK(ing) Day is an annual, worldwide event that inspires city dwellers everywhere to transform metered parking spots into temporary parks for the public good. Architecture for Humanity Chicago transformed multiple parking spaces in the Logan Square neighborhood into spaces for designing stools. Using QR codes, participants could upload a pic of their creation to our Facebook page and let us know where in the city their stool calls home.
